According to Prakash, with HDFC’s strategic investment in Bonito Designs, the company will seek to command ownership of the large developments in existing cities of operation, while preparing to expand in a few new markets over the next 3 years. With this capital, the company has created a roadmap to further improve their unit economics, building operating efficiencies led by technology, and further reducing the cost of customer acquisition through brand-led customer experience. Bonito Designs works with celebrity designers to co-create designs with personalization. Last year, the brand brought on board Gauri Khan and Manish Malhotra in a bid to curate bespoke homes for its customers. According to a recent industry report, the home design and interior market in India were estimated to be $23.2 billion in 2020 and is projected to clock $38.2 billion by 2027 registering a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.4%.
